Apple announced today, the long awaited update to the Mac OS X operating system, Lion. Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM.

Mac OS X Lion will be available from the Mac App Store for $29.99. It will be a 4GB download (about the size of a HD movie from the iTunes Store). In August, the Lion update will be made available from the Apple Store on a USB thumb drive for $69.

- AirDrop, which finds nearby Macs and automatically sets up a peer-to-peer wireless connection to make transferring files quick and easy.
