How to update GSM version of Galaxy Nexus with Android 4.0.2 (Ice Cream Sandwich)?




Google rolled out an Android 4.0.2 update to the GSM version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. This update is 8.7MB in size and includes numerous bug fixes.

Google has also announced the upcoming 4.0.3 update for the Galaxy Nexus, which include even more bug fixes and improvements and some new APIs for developers to take advantage of, involving the contact social stream, camera, and calender.

Note: This process only applied on GSM Galaxy Nexus with the product codename 'yakju' and should not on Verizon galaxy Nexus or any other variant.

Prerequisites: 
  • You need to backup the whole data of your phone like SMS, Contacts, Music, Videos, Images etc. In case, if the data gets lost after update you can restore it.
  • You need fastboot and unlock your bootloader.

Follow these steps to update your phone:- 
  • Download factory image for for Galaxy Nexus 
                 For GSM (ICL53F) 
                 For CDMA (ICL53F)  
  • If any antivirus is install in your phone, then uninstall it.
  • Enable the USB Debugging in your phone.
  • Now turn Off your phone to boot the phone in the fast boot mode. 
  • Press “Holding Volume Up key + Volume Down Key + Power Key”  to enter in fast boot mode. This will open up the Administrator command prompt. 
  • After this, Connect your phone to the computer and open the command prompt and then enter the commands in the fast boot mode shown below.
                   fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-maguro-primekk15.img
                   fastboot reboot-bootloader
                   (Wait till the Boot loader is Rebooted) 
                   fastboot flash radio radio-maguro-i9250xxkk6.img
                   fastboot reboot-bootloader
                   (Wait till the Boot loader is Rebooted)
                    fastboot update image-yakju-icl53f.zip

After entered all the above commands, the device will be updated.
