Sony Upgrade VAIO Y Series (CES 2011)




Sony is upgrading its VAIO Y Series notebook product line, offering more performance than the previous generation for $200 less.
The VAIO Y will ship in two versions : one featuring the AMD Dual-Core E-350 processor, and the other one with the Intel Core i3-380UM (Intel Core previous generation). 

The Y models features a 11.6-inch widescreen (1366×768) LED-backlit display, 6 hours of estimated battery life, 2GB DDR3 RAM (up to 4 GB) with 320GB of HDD storage for the AMD version, and 4GB DDR2 RAM (up to 8GB) with 500GB of HDD storage for the Intel version. 

The Sony VAIO Y will be available next month at www.sony.com/pr/yseries and at select retailers, the AMD version will cost about $550. In Europe, both versions will start shipping at the end of January 2011.
