Kindle app announced for webOS

Amazon just announced that they will releasing a Kindle app for WebOS. The app will be specially designed for the HP TouchPad and will read any Kindle eBook, even if it was purchased on another platform.

Kindle for webOS will let customers “Buy Once, Read Everywhere” – on Kindle, Kindle 3G, Kindle DX, iPad, iPod touch, iPhone, PC, Mac, BlackBerry, Windows Phone 7, Android-based devices, and this summer, the HP TouchPad. Amazon’s Whispersync technology syncs your place across devices, so you can pick up where you left off and never lose your place.

The app will be available for free (though your books won’t be) but no release date has been mentioned, but expect it to drop along with the HP TouchPad when it is released later this year.
