MeeGo 1.1 for Smartphones gets hands-on video

At the MeeGo Conference in Dublin, developers of the mobile operating system showed off the latest builds of MeeGo 1.1 for smartphones. Carrypad shot some footage of a Moorestown-based AAVA smartphone running MeeGo 1.1, which you can check out below.

There has been a lot of progress in MeeGo's development, but the platform still needs to mature some. The demo showed that there is no active icons to show badges for unread messages or notifications and a single homescreen without the ability to take on widgets.

Hopefully, we'll see more coming out of MeeGo, which is based on Linux and will rival Android in the open-source scalable OS space. Here is the video:
