How to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 final using Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 For iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch (Download Link)

Apple recently released iOS 5.0.1 for their users. The new software, iOS 5.0.1, can be jailbroken using redsn0w 0.9.9b8. This is a tethered jailbreak, so those wanting un-tethered only need not apply.

The jailbreak is untethered for iPhone 3GS old bootrom and tethered for iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod touch 4G, 3G and iPad 1. The iPad 2 and iPhone 4S jailbreaks are not yet available.

Follow the steps:

Step 1: Download iTunes 10.5 and iOS 5.0.1 final version.

Step 2: Download Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 for Windows or Mac OS X .

Step 3: Open RedSn0w 0.9.9b8 and select Extras > Specify Firmware > then point it to the iOS 5.0 firmware IPSW.

Step 4: Go back to the main screen of RedSn0w and place your device into DFU mode. Now click on “Jailbreak” then “Install Cydia”.

Step 5: Your device should then jailbreak, but note that your Cydia icon will be white because it is a tethered jailbreak. To boot tethered you will need to place your device into DFU mode again.

Step 6: From the main RedSn0w page, select Extras > Specify Firmware > and point it to the iOS 5.0 IPSW.

Step 7: Now open Redsn0w again and hit “Extras” then “Just Boot” and it will perform a tethered boot.

iOS 5.0.1 Final should now be fully jailbroken.
