PlayStation app coming soon to iPhone, Android devices

The PlayStation App is now being developed for devices running on iOS and Android operating systems. Good thing Sony has cleared the air, explaining that this will not be the mobile gaming platform that Sony is rumored to be conjuring, but rather, it allows you to view your collection of PlayStation Network trophies on-the-go, while keeping up to date with your friends’ games and online statuses.

Features of the PlayStation app include:

• Check out your PlayStation Network trophies and keep up to date with your friends’ games and online status.
• Discover all the latest games, news and hardware for your PlayStation 3, PSP and PlayStation 2.
• Read all the announcements on the European PlayStation.Blog.
• Share your favourite products or news with your friends on Facebook, Twitter or via e-mail.

The app will first roll out in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands, while other markets will follow shortly. Needless to say, this is worth downloading only if you have a Sony PS3 and spend plenty of time gaming on it. Gaming has truly never been this social to date.
