Comcast released an Android version of its Xfinity Mobile app

Comcast has released an Android version of its Xfinity Mobile app. Less advanced thanXfinity TV for iOS, the app can remotely schedule a DVR and check listings but can't remote control live programming. The app also offers access to other Comcast services such as VoIP voicemail and Comcast mail. 

The app will support any phone that is powered by Android 1.6 or later and is already available for free in the Android Market. A version of Xfinity TV is slated to arrive soon for Android, but specific details haven't been mentioned. Comcast's cable division president Neil Smit said at UBS' conference today that there was "no plan in place" to switch to usage-based pricing, or plans based on the amount of bandwidth used.
